US President Donald Trump on Monday said that he would like to sign new trade deals with Russia. He envisioned the opportunity at a meeting with the UK’s Prime Minister Keir Starmer during his visit to Scotland. The two world leaders discussed trade and solutions to Gaza, and also spoke about China and Sweden’s tariffs. While Starmer mostly stressed humanitarian aid to Gaza, Trump spoke about deals and trade wars. BRICS member Russia announced on Sunday that it has found massive oil and gas reserves in the British Antarctic territory. The discovery will potentially lead to drilling in the protected region making Russia’s oil reserves grow in the coming years. The newly discovered reserve findings are so massive that it covers around 511 billion barrels worth of oil. That’s around 10 times the North Sea’s output in the last 50 years. BRICS member China is taking undue advantage of lower crude oil prices by stockpiling 1.39 million barrels every day. China hoarded cheap crude oil from Russia as the country was sanctioned and forced to sell it at discounted prices. The sanctions against Russia are a blessing in disguise for China as it has been accumulating crude oil since October 2023. The Chinese Yuan is officially the top most traded currency in Russia surpassing the US dollar by 2.5%. BRICS members China and Russia are settling trade in Chinese Yuan since February 2022 ending dependency on the US dollar. The US pressed sanctions against Russia for invading Ukraine making it harder for the country to trade in the dollar. Binance to permanently suspend ruble on P2P platform

From Jan. 31, 2024, 00:00 UTC, the P2P platform of the Binance cryptocurrency exchange will stop supporting trading pairs with the Russian ruble . According to the statement, users can withdraw funds in this currency through the exchange’s fiat partners, convert them into cryptocurrency on Binance Convert, or exchange them on the spot market. The statement added that users can place orders of the Russian ruble on CommEX, which owns the Russian business of Binance. “To use CommEX for P2P trading, simply register for or log into the CommEX account and connect it to the corresponding Binance account.
