Bybit and 11 of its products flagged as 'suspicious' by Hong Kong regulator

Dubai-based derivatives exchange Bybit and 11 of its products have been listed as ‘suspicious’ by Hong Kong ’s market regulator . The country’s Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) added Bybit to its ‘Suspicious Virtual Asset Trading Platforms Alert List’ on Thursday. At the same time, it added a number of the company’s products , including ‘Futures Contracts and Inverse Futures Contracts,’ ‘ Bybit Leveraged Tokens,’ and ‘ Bybit Wealth Management’ to its ‘Suspicious Investment Products Alert List.’ In a statement, the SFC said, “The SFC is concerned that these products have also been offered to Hong Kong investors and wishes to make it clear that no entity in the Bybit group is licensed by or registered with the SFC to conduct any ‘regulated activity’ in Hong Kong.” It added that it “will not hesitate to take enforcement action against unlicensed activities where appropriate.” This month, the SFC also issued warnings about Hong Kong-headquartered ex...

HashKey to debut Bitcoin and Ethereum retail trading in Hong Kong

Crypto exchange HashKey Group is set to debut Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) trading services for its Hong Kong customers on Aug. 28. In an interview with local media, HashKey chief operating officer Weng Xiaoqi announced that its exchange business will start offering retail trading services for crypto. Samsung investment arm considering spot-Bitcoin ETF in Hong Kong

With the Hong Kong Stock Exchange being the only regulated exchange in Asia offering Bitcoin futures ETFs, some believe spot crypto ETF products will soon be allowed. Hot on the heels of its Bitcoin (BTC) futures exchange-traded fund (ETF) in Hong Kong, Samsung Asset Management has indicated it's considering the launch of a spot Bitcoin ETF on the city's exchange if policies allow for it. In an interview with Bloomberg published on Jan. 13, Hong Kong chief executive for Samsung Asset Management, Sam Park, said: “It really depends on how policy is going to be developed,” adding that the Hong Kong administrators are “clearly” interested in developing the city into a crypto hub. An ETF analyst at Bloomberg Intelligence, Rebecca Sin, noted that “Hong Kong is well positioned to become Asia’s crypto gateway,” and expects spot Bitcoin and Ether (ETH) products to be allowed there by the year's end.
